Pretoria licence examiner receives three-month prison sentence for corruption
“She was in the company of a male believed to be the owner of a driving school operating from the Pretoria CBD."
A licence examiner from Pretoria has received a three-month prison sentence as well as a five-year suspended sentence for corruption after writing a learner licence test on behalf of an applicant from Bloemfontein in 2021.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) spokesperson Simon Zwane said the RTMC welcomed the verdict against 30-year-old Nonceba Tania Hela.
Hela was found in the office of the manager when a member of the National Traffic Anti-Corruption went to the centre to investigate allegations of impropriety, according to Zwane.
“She was in the company of a male believed to be the owner of a driving school operating from the Pretoria CBD,” he said.

He said the investigation revealed that Hela had the applicant’s identification card in her possession and had fraudulently signed the application form on behalf of the applicant.
“The Temba magistrate’s court sentenced Hela to three months imprisonment with an option of a R600 fine.
“She also received a five-year suspended sentence.”
He said criminal charges against the driving school owner were, however, withdrawn due to insufficient evidence.
Zwane said the RTMC was still committed to dealing with fraud and corruption.
The public has been urged by the RTMC to report all suspicions of malfeasances, bribery, fraud and corruption by sending a WhatsApp message to 083 293 799 or sending an email to ntacu@rtmc.co.za
