North petrol station safe bombed

Five suspects bombed the drop safe and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police are investigating a business robbery case after a safe was bombed at a petrol station in Soshanguve earlier this week.

Five armed men bombed the safe at the petrol station on Sunday, March 13, according to Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo.

Masondo said the bombing happened at around 21:45.

“An undisclosed amount of cash was taken,” said Masondo.

He said the suspects were armed with pistols and rifles as they stormed into the garage.

“Suspects held petrol attendants and cashiers hostage at gunpoint.

“Numerous gunshots were fired and no injuries were sustained,” he said.

Masondo said the suspects fled the scene in a white Toyota Quantum.

“A case of business robbery was opened at the Soshanguve police station.

“No arrests have been made yet,” Masondo said.

The management at the petrol station declined to comment.
