Two organisations serve 500 meals to people in Mamelodi

#Notinmyname partners with Dlalisa Moyeni Foundation to feed underprivileged communities.

Two non-profit organisations have partnered together to serve 500 underprivileged communities including school children and foreign nationals with hot meals in Mamelodi last week Wednesday.

The organisations are #Notinmyname and the Dlalisa Moyeni Foundation.

Themba Masango from #Notinmyname said together with partners in civil society, their main goal is to use their influence and resourcefulness to help those who are in need.

“Through our partnership with Dlalisa Moyeni Foundation we wish to tell a story of how grassroots organisations have defended many communities from the true violence of poverty, unemployment, and hunger,” said Masango.

He said the organisation wished to highlight how organisations like Dlalisa Moyeni have dedicated their efforts and resources towards communities that would otherwise die in poverty.

“We wish to raise awareness about the true state of the nation, and mobilise resources towards relevant partners in civil society, and together break the cycle of hunger.”

CEO of Dlalisa Moyeni, Tumisang Skosana, said the foundation was founded in 2020 after the lockdown announcement.

“We decided to host a food drive every Wednesday where we would feed lunch to 500 people, including children.

“Many companies were forced to shut down and many people who are breadwinners lost their jobs. As an organisation we decided to do a food drive for locals,” said Skosana.

“We decided to search deep in our pockets and cook lunch every Wednesday for the residents. We proud to say people are no longer suffering like before and they go to bed with a full stomach,” said Skosana.

Masango added they are with the foundation to support the good programme and are very privileged to help young people. They will strengthen their relationship and will work continue working together.

Dlalisa Moyeni Foundation’s overall purpose is to address social ills in South African society.

“We work in partnership with other stakeholders which include like-minded commercial institutions, associations with partnering non-profits, the public sector, and the South African public.

“We believe that the “task ahead is always tough, but through purposeful execution and calculated momentum, the mission is achieved,” she said.
