North organisation’s mission is to eradicate poverty
“We still hope private sectors would assist us for our campaign to succeed,” said Mtshweni.
A local non-profit organisation has set its sights on alleviating poverty in Mabopane.
The director of the foundation, Sibongile Mtshweni (41), said they seek donations of clothes, food or anything that they can use to help the less fortunate.
“We seek the donations through different social media platforms, advertising and through word of mouth,” she said.
“Dr Marcia Matala started this foundation because she knew what it is like to go to bed hungry.”
Mtshweni said they have a number of campaigns that they have hosted this year including the back-to-school campaign drive in Soshangane primary school in block A, Ontlametse primary school in Hebron and more.

“In future we are looking at partnering and collaborating with other organisations,” she said.
“We still hope private sectors would assist us for our campaign to succeed.”
One of the founders, Koketso Donald Matjiane said the foundation is there to make residents feel special.
“This was done by hosting events whereby everyone will have fun,” he said.
“Not everyone knows what it feels like to be loved and appreciated, so we make sure we show them love.”
Matjiane said their goal was to create a sports ground because there are kids who play soccer on the streets.
“Our grandparents lacked facilities to exercise and our plans is to assist these kids.
“Last year we hosted two events, a fun day and an ice cream day and over 150 kids attended,” he said.

Mabopane block B resident, Thulaganyo Mashishi (19) said the foundation helped them during a recent Valentine’s Day event they hosted.
“They provided us with some items, including food, for the event.”
Mashishi said they really appreciate the assistance they got from the foundation.
