Police educate learners on drugs, bullying
“The point of the visit was to remind the learners about the importance of staying away from criminal activities and encourage them to stay in school instead."
The Pretoria West police’s social crime prevention unit recently visited the learners at the Royal Schools Queens Private in the west of Pretoria to do a talk on drugs and bullying.
Police spokesperson Constable Sibongile Vuma said the officers were accompanied by community safety members, CPF and the social auxiliary team from Sithuthukise Bonke Crisis Centre when they visited the school on Monday.
“The point of the visit was to remind the learners about the importance of staying away from criminal activities and encourage them to stay in school instead,” she said.

“We informed them about the disadvantages of getting involved in smoking dagga and drugs along with the consequences of getting involved in such activities.”
She said the high school learners were also given pamphlets with additional information.

“The police also informed them of the consequences of having a criminal record in society and how it would affect them academically when they wanted to further their studies and how it reduced their chances of employment as a graduate,” Vuma said.
She said the learners were also encouraged to prioritise their academics, adding that they also wished them the best of luck in their studies.
“The learners were advised to focus on their books and adhere to school rules,” Vuma said.
