Maritimo send stern warning to Mike One Stars

We know that Maritimo are mentally strong and play nice football but we will never allow them to defeat us, says Mike One Stars head coach.

Club Sport Maritimo head coach Selby “Sfuba” Sihlangu warned that his team would easily defeat Mike One Stars Football Club on their upcoming game should they not change their style of play.

The two teams will meet at the Maritimo sports ground in Hatfield on Saturday at 15:30.

“I watched Mike One Stars playing against City Stars Football Club on Sunday and realised they were too weak and stand no chance of winning or even playing a draw with us,” Sfuba said.

He said the match against the second toughest team in the Stream B of Safa Tshwane Regional League would be a walk in the park come the weekend.

“I trust my team, we are good enough to defeat them.”

He said they would beat them the same way they defeated the log leaders, Tshwane South College Football Club, two weeks ago. With 47 points in the log standings, Mike One Stars are in position two of the log with four points behind the log leaders.

“Most top teams have too much pressure because their eagerness to win stresses them.”

He said his side used the stress of their opponents to their advantage.

“Since we are not fighting to win the league, we do not have any pressure and are able to play our best football.”

Unfortunately Maritimo are in no position to win the league as a result of their poor performance in the first leg of the season in the hands of the previous head coach. With the new head coach, Sfuba, they are now focusing at making it into the top four at the end of the soccer period.

The Hatfield outfit are in position six of the log standings with 38 points.

Mike One Stars head coach Thabelo Nefale said the upcoming match against Maritimo would definitely be tough.

“We know that Maritimo are mentally strong and play nice football,” Nefale said, citing that his side would, however, never allow any team to defeat them.

“I do not want to lose any match or drop any point because that will move us out of the race.”

He said they would work harder to beat Maritimo.

“We want to go to their sports ground and punish them.”

Mike One Stars are four points below the leading team and three about the third team, University of Pretoria who have two games in hand.
