Culpable homicide to be investigated following death of child (6) in Mooikloof accident
The minor was declared dead on scene after being hit by a light motor vehicle.
A culpable homicide case has been opened following the death of a six-year-old boy that suffered fatal injuries after he was hit by a car in Mooikloof in the east of Pretoria, last week.
Netcare911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said the minor was declared dead on arrival by paramedics after he was struck by a light motor vehicle at the corner of Garstfontein and Jollify roads at around 13:50 near Mooikloof Ridge shops, on Thursday, March 24.
Boschkop police spokesperson Sergeant Yeroboam Mbatsane said the six-year-old was hit by a car when he and a four-year-old child were crossing the road that was open for vehicles to pass.
“The four-year-old managed to cross the road and was not hurt but unfortunately the six-year-old did not make it,” he said.
Mbatsane said although the driver of the vehicle that hit the child was not facing any charges, a case of culpable homicide was opened to probe the death of the child.
