Operation Okae Molao in full swing in Moot

"We were also looking for unlicensed firearms, drugs and car break-in implements. We were very successful with 262 suspects arrested, of which 80 was for gender-based violence."

Police and various law enforcement held yet another operation under the Okae Molao banner in Villieria and Pretoria Moot last week.

Tshwane acting commissioner Brigadier Terence Naidoo said the operation saw several people arrested for several crimes ranging from illegal immigrants or undocumented persons, drinking in public as well as drug possession.

A roadblock was later held on the corners of Johan Heyns Drive and Fred Nicholson Street to check vehicle compliance.

“Community members must refrain from taking the law into their own hands and they must report all these crimes to the station or the local CPF in their area.

“We want to encourage the community to practice neighbourhood watch in their area to curb these crimes,” he said.

“We also want to urge both men and women to come to us and report domestic violence.”

Operations conducted in the area included roadblocks, vehicle checkpoints, high visibility, stop-and-searches and checking second-hand goods.

“We were also looking for unlicensed firearms, drugs and car break-in implements. We were very successful with 262 suspects arrested, of which 80 were for gender-based violence,” said Naidoo.

Operation Okae Molao is ongoing until police and law enforcement agencies, stabilise Tshwane district.

“An admission of guilt fine to the value of R4 000 were issued as well as traffic fines to the value of R46 750.

“We managed to confiscate crystal meth, nyaope and heroin,” said Naidoo.

During the roadblock, 657 vehicles and 1 175 people were searched.

“This operation is really bearing fruit and we thank the various law enforcement agencies who are working around the clock to put a stop to any related criminal activities,” he said.
