The Tshwane metro police arrested two men who were caught allegedly selling pharmaceuticals at a spaza shop in Olievenhoutbosch.
Metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the suspects were selling cough syrups Benylin, Broncleer and Painagon syrup to Olievenhoutbosch community members.
He said the two suspects regularly operate from the spaza shop.
“After conducting a thorough search, 17 bottles of Benilyn syrup, 20 bottles of Broncleer syrup and 47 bottles of Painagon syrup were found in their car.
The duo were arrested for contravening the medicine and related substance act 101 of 1965 and being in possession of ammunition, he said.
Dealing in drugs, pharmaceuticals and drug-related paraphernalia continues to be a problem for various communities in Tshwane, according to Mahamba.
