39-year-old nabbed for possession of drugs in Eersterust
The intelligence-driven operation led by the Eersterust police to combat dealing in drugs landed a 39-year-old man in prison after residents lodged complaints against him.
Police in Eersterust arrested a man believed to be in his late 30s for the possession of drugs on Friday, May 6.
The Eersterust police received several complaints from residents about a suspected drug house on Archbell Avenue, according to police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo.
Shibambo said the alleged drug dealers were identified and the information received was used to conduct the operation.
“Armed with a search warrant, police raided the house.
“We arrested a 39-year-old man after he was found with drugs suspected to be CAT,” said Shibambo.
He said the police also found and seized a small scale in the house suspected to be used for weighing drugs.
Rekord reported on a similar incident in January when Eersterust police arrested two men believed to be in their early 30s for the possession and transporting of drugs.
The two men were also found with CAT, estimated to be valued at R60 000.
Police also found a large amount of cash in the car that the suspects used to transport drugs.
In another incident, Eersterust police arrested a man who was found with 96 packets of drugs believed to be crystal meth.
“Eersterust SAPS station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Simon Matshwane Theledi, who led the drug operation, promised the local CPF and the community that he and his team will work very hard to eradicate drugs in the area.”
