No disruptions on Tshwane roads while truck drivers protest

Truck drivers blocked roads in some parts of the country as they protest to have their demands met.

No disruptions have been detected across roads in Tshwane as truck drivers protest in a bid to have their demands met by the labour department.

The truckers are protesting against undocumented and unqualified truck drivers and are demanding that the department address the issue.

Speaking to Rekord, Gauteng Traffic Police spokesperson, Sello Maremane, said no roads were blocked in Tshwane.

Maremane said ground forces were deployed to monitor roads across the Gauteng province and an update will be given if anything changes.

“So far I haven’t received any reports from officers on the ground, so traffic on our roads is not affected.

“Free State and Kwa-Zulu Natal are currently the most affected provinces in the country,” he added.
