Metro bundles services to improve service delivery

Instead of a team attending to one problem, the metro believes that when one team attends to multiple problems in the area service delivery will be fast-tracked.

The Tshwane metro wants to improve service delivery.

MMC for Utilities and Regional Operations Daryl Johnston said the metro has implemented an integrated urban management programme by bundling its services in one area.

“Instead of a single service deliverable, such as filling potholes, the programme will combine multiple service delivery activities,” he said.

Johnston said during a recent visit to Mamelodi East that programme was implemented successfully.

He said a recent maintenance team did not only fixed street lights but also marked roads and cleaned stormwater drains.

“Our team moreover fixed potholes and resurfaced roads using the jet patcher machine,” said Johnston.

Johnston said the metro would use this initiative to accelerate service delivery by sending one team to deal with multiple problems at once.

“While we push for improved service delivery, I would like to call on communities to work with the City by keeping our living spaces clean and by helping to safeguard our shared infrastructure from vandalism,” Johnston added.
