Stage 2 load-shedding during peak hours
Eskom announced that Stage 2 load-shedding will be implemented every evening until Thursday, June 24.
Eskom will implement stage 2 load-shedding every evening from today until Thursday, June 24, due to a shortage of generation capacity.
Residents should expect load-shedding between 17:00 and 22:00, said Eskom spokesperson Sikhonathi Mantshantsha.
Mantshantsha said Eskom will continue to monitor the system, and adjust and communicate any changes when necessary.
He said that the implantation of load-shedding is a last resort as the national grid needs to be protected.
“We appeal to residents to help limit the impact of the shortages by continuing to reduce the usage of electricity and to switch off all non-essential items.
“We currently have five 232MW on planned maintenance, while another 14 202MW is unavailable due to breakdowns,” he said.
Mantshantsha said as the shortage of generation capacity persists, the system will continue to be constrained with an elevated risk of load-shedding over the coming weeks.
