Police nab three for unlicensed firearms
Police receive information about armed men around Tshwane and a manhunt to find them is launched.
Tshwane police and other law enforcement agencies arrested three men for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said on June 21, the police launched an operation to follow up on information about the three men, aged between 34 and 50, suspected of carrying unlicensed firearms.
Masondo said the first suspect (41) was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with 15 live rounds of ammunition in Winterveldt and arrested.
He said the serial number of the pistol had been filed off.

“The second suspect, aged 33, was arrested in a separate house in Winterveldt,” he said.
“He was found in possession of a firearm with a filed off serial number, 9mm magazines, an R5 rifle magazine and live rounds of ammunition.”
Masondo said the third suspect (50) was arrested in Mzimdala Section in Mmotla.
“As the police arrived at his house, the suspect attempted to flee the scene.
“Upon searching him and the house, police found drugs, an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” he said.
Masondo added that the three suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
