Protestors set two buildings on fire in Hercules
Residents are urged to avoid Van der Hoff Road in Hercules for their own safety.
Gomorrah informal settlement residents set buildings alight and blockaded the streets to protest poor service delivery in Hercules on Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the protestors gathered in Van der Hoff Road around 04:30 with tyres and set the nearby buildings on fire.

Selepe said the police were sent to the scene to prevent the protesters from destroying more infrastructure.
She urged residents to avoid Van der Hoff Road for their own safety.

Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso told Rekord that firefighters were dispatched to extinguish the fire and had to wait for a police escort before they could access the buildings to extinguish the fire.
Mabaso said firefighters are still on the scene.
