Laudium residents robbed by five men
The five suspects were armed with firearms and demanded items and money from the victims.
Five armed home invaders robbed a family living on 5th Avenue in Laudium on Tuesday morning, July 5.
It is suspected that the criminals used a remote control system to open the gate and drive into the premises.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe said the robbers broke into the house through the kitchen door and began to search the house for items to steal.
Chokoe said the family members were upstairs when they heard a noise coming from downstairs.
“When the family members went to check what was happening downstairs, they found the robbers.
“The suspects ordered them at gunpoint to lie down on the floor,” he said.
The robbers searched the house, demanding items and money from the victims.
Chokoe said the suspects stole two iPhone cellphones, two Samsung cellphones, diamond rings and an undisclosed amount of money.
He said the suspects fled the scene in a black Audi car with an unknown registration number.
Chokoe confirmed that no shots were fired and no one was injured.
He said investigations are underway.
