Man (30) injured doing plane repairs in Bon Accord

It was reported that a hydraulic pipe hit his head as he was stripping parts from an old airplane to place into an operating plane.

A 30-year-old man sustained head injuries after a hydraulic pipe hit his head while he was stripping parts from a crashed airplane.

The incident happened on Thursday morning near Wonderboom national airport, said Ambu-Link emergency medical services operations manager Albert Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen.

Albert said the man was transferring the stripped parts to planes that were still operational.

“As he was stripping one of the planes, it seems the hydraulic pipe sprung out and hit his head,” Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen said.

He said the man sustained head injuries and the impact affected his chest and neck.

“His colleague alerted Ambu-Link,” he said.

“Our paramedics treated the patient and transported him to a nearby hospital for further medical care.”

Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen added that the patient was, however, moderately injured.
