Several roads will be closed in Pretoria due to an awareness march against the recent killing of people in taverns and gender-based violence(GBV). Click here to see what streets are affected.

Motorists are warned that several roads will be closed in Pretoria on Thursday due to an awareness march against the recent killing of people in taverns and gender-based violence(GBV).

According to the Tshwane Metro Police Communication Unit, marchers will gather from 09:00 at Jopie Fourie Park, Pretoria North.

The route of the march is as follows:
From Jopie Fourie Park they will join President Steyn Street and turn right onto Ben Viljoen Street to reach SAPS Pretoria North at 325 Ben Viljoen Street, Pretoria North.
The following intersections will be affected:
* Emily Hobhouse Avenue
* Ben Viljoen Street
* Stasie Street

“The marchers are expected to disperse from SAPS Pretoria North at 11:30.

“Tshwane Metro Police officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets.”

Motorists are advised to avoid affected streets and use alternative routes such as:
* Wonderboom Street
* Gerrit Maritz Road
* Rachel de Beer Street
