Queen Elizabeth II (96) has died
The British monarch passed away at Balmoral, Scotland, on Thursday afternoon following concerns about her health.
Queen Elizabeth II has died peacefully at Balmoral on Thursday afternoon, September 8.
The news was announced at around 19:30 on Thursday evening.
On its official Twitter page, the Royal Family announced the King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London on Friday, September 9.
On Thursday afternoon, members of the British royal family were called to the Queen’s bedside after her health started declining.
The Queen was being held under medical supervision in Balmoral, Scotland, after her doctors became concerned about her health.
All of the Queen’s children, as well as Prince William, were called to her bedside.
The Queen, aged 96, is the longest-serving monarch in the history of the United Kingdom, having held the position since 1952 serving a total of 70 years and 127 days.
Her Platinum Jubilee celebrated this milestone in February.
The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
