Construction worker sustains severe head trauma after six-floor plummet
Medics speculate that the man was possibly not wearing a harness attached to an approved anchor point.
A construction worker sustained critical injuries after he reportedly slipped and fell from a six-floor window on Thursday.
Netcare 911 paramedics responded after the man fell from some scaffolding to the ground below on Lynnwood Road in Pretoria.
The worker was believed to be in his early 30s, according to paramedics.
“It is not clear if the worker was wearing a harness or if it was attached to an approved anchor point, as some gear was not present on the arrival of medics,” said Netcare911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst.
He said the man, who was found to have severe head trauma and fractures throughout his body, was treated on the scene.
“Once stabilised, he was flown by Netcare 911 helicopter to a specialist facility for the care he required.”
By Friday morning the patient was still in a serious condition and under sedation in the high care unit.
