Man critically injured in Mabopane accident

Paramedics said a man was in critical condition after his car crashed into a bridge pillar on a Mabopane road on Saturday evening.

A man was critically injured after his car crashed into a bridge pillar in Mabopane on Saturday evening.

The accident happened around 18:00.

Best Care Ambulance Services arrived on the scene to assist the injured man.

It is believed that his vehicle’s wheel had come off, causing him to lose control and crash into the pillar.

Off-duty doctors who happened to be travelling on the same road witnessed the crash and rushed to the scene to help the man. They also called for further medical assistance.

The injured man sustained a leg fracture, among other injuries.

BestCare representative Margot van Rooyen confirmed that paramedics dispatched to the scene were able to stabilise the man there before transporting him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

“After arriving at the call, our emergency respondents took over from the off-duty practitioners and were able to stabilise the man and transport him by ambulance to Eugene Marais Hospital for further treatment,” said Van Rooyen.
