Curro CEO says safety a “top priority”

Curro CEO Andries Greyling has assured parents that the school is safe a day after a Grade 1 learner at the group’s Thatchfield school was knocked down by a car.
Azania Madonsela was tragically killed when she was hit by a car in the independent school’s parking lot.
Medics called to the scene attempted to resuscitate Madonsela, but she succumbed to severe head injuries.
Greyling said in a statement: “The safety and security of Curro’s learners and staff members remains our top priority and we take a proactive approach in seeking to prevent incidents of this nature.
“If any incident of reckless driving occurs on our properties, we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to book.
“We are there to protect the young lives under our care and will do everything in our power to do so.”
The school said the SAPS are currently investigating the incident.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Gert Adolf Corbett confirmed this by saying: “We are investigating a case of culpable homicide.”
