Local NGO recognises high-performing students at Atteridgeville primary school

The event follows a spring day flag parade held in September this year at the Atteridgeville-based primary school.

Kool 2B South African and partners honoured the best performing academics at Saint Ann Primary School during a flag unveiling and flag tree planting ceremony recently.

Kool 2B South African were joined by Rosop (Respect of Our Symbols and Orders Protocol) ambassadors at the Atteridgeville-based primary school.

“In promotion of the value of excellence that our flag stands for, the school forwarded names of best performing academically and those active in heritage matters at school to be Kool 2B South African and Rosop ambassadors so we can recognise them for their efforts,” said president and founder of Kool 2B South African Khaya “Kool” Seoketsa.

Some of the best academic-performing learners honoured included Khumbula Phemelo, Letau Ramogayane and Mphoentle Kgomo.

Some of the Rosop ambassadors in attendance included Ramoganyana Letau, Dibakwane Princes, Sebelebele Thabang, Tjale Naledi, and Mabaso Mikhenso.

“The flag tree’s objective is an extension symbolic expression of promoting the constitutional values that our flag stands for including, but not limited to, excellence, reconciliation, respect, rule of law, equality, equity, democracy, anti-racism and sexism, ubuntu, unity, pride, integrity and care for all,” Seoketsa continued.

The original flag tree was planted on September 8 during the NGO’s first visit to Saint Ann Primary and appears to be making good progress.

Kool 2B South African intends to continue planting trees of its nature that symbolise South African pride and honour its high achievers.

Kool 2B South African was launched on July 29 at Freedom Park, Salvokop to commemorate Mandela month. It had been in the works since August 2009 in Mahikeng. The NGO believes that it is important to teach learners the history of the country and the people who fought for it.

Kool 2B South African has worked with the likes of Pheli FM, NYDA (National Youth Development Agency), the Department of Education, Tshwane metro south district and the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment in various initiatives.
