Local Amapiano star launches solo album

Famous Amapiano music star DJ Dinho has gone solo and recently launched his first EP album.

Famous Amapiano music star Dj Dinho has finally decided to go solo and recently launched his first EP album, President ya Flaka.

He said the eight-track album took him about six months to complete and features the best of the best in the music industry, the likes of Kabza de small.

DJ Dinho, born Tiego Motau of Mamelodi west section D3, is also known for celebrating his birthday at Moretele Park on 26 December.

President ya Flaka was launched on November 4 motivated by his fans and followers who always attend his gigs.

Among the best tracks in the album features the likes of Optimist, Music King, King T, Richard K and Jay Sax, is Umzebenzi Wami which is already doing well on the charts.

“The album is part of giving back to my supporters but my dream is to see young artists in Mamelodi grow to become big stars in the music industry and start their own record labels too,” said Dinho.

The DJ recently bought a house in Mamelodi and plans to turn it into a fully equipped studio from which his record label DND Records will operate.

Dinho passion’s for music started many years ago as he listened to his grandfather’s music collection.

He said his music career started 12 years ago with Barcardi Music, Afro House after his mother bought him a sound system to perform at weddings and birthday parties and has not looked back.

“I completed my matric around 2006 and studied music production as well as civil engineering,” he said.

He landed his first big gig at Jack Budha Pub when he was invited to perform for a night and the rest is history.

Today, he is known internationally following playing at the Corona Amapiano Sunset experience for local DJs.

Dinho worked with Durban Gogo to make the hit song French Kiss in 2019 and was nominated for the MTV Listeners Choices award.

As part of giving back to his community and followers, he wants to launch the #RoadtoDinhoCafe differently this year.

He said he aimed to go to orphanages and shelters around Tshwane donating food parcels and raising awareness of substance abuse.

He said since all roads led to Moretele Park for his birthday party, he is giving away five double tickets to his concert.
