It’s not in our hands – Sibiya
“We just want to do better and better, focusing on ourselves,” coach Sibiya says.
Finishing second in the Hollywoodbets Super League is beyond TUT Ladies FC’s control as the season is coming to an end on Saturday, November 26.
The red army is currently third on the log with 62 points after 29 matches played and they must win against Golden Ladies.
A win for TUT and a loss for UWC against Durban Ladies will ensure that TUT finishes the season in second position again.
Despite the possible twist and turns that could still happen, TUT has had a wonderful season having managed to surpass last season’s tally of 59 points to 62 thus far this season.
Their coach Sizwe Sibiya said they’ve had an amazing season despite the challenges they have faced.
“I must be honest: one can only learn from everything that we have faced. Both good and bad,” he said.
He said they’ve faced many challenges on and off the field but they did their best to keep the ship steady.
“Just what we have been through in this one season is enough for me to write a 350-page book. Back to how we started the pre-season to the first match, now this weekend we are playing the last one. It wasn’t easy,” he said.
He said his players and the technical team did a tremendous job in ensuring that all outside elements stay where they are and do not get into the minds of the players.
Sibiya said they are focused on being better than they were last season and this season.
“Once you are focused on being better than the person you were yesterday, then you would have understood the dynamics of life. Leave other people to fight their own battles, have their own objectives and just focus on you,” he said.
He added that next season they aim to jump the 70 points mark.
“What will that do for us? Only the Most High knows. We just want to do better and better, focusing on ourselves. We must not confuse ourselves with so many objectives, for at some point we will fall because the focus is divided,” he said.
He said he has an amazing group of individuals with different characters and he is just a blender, mixing all these characters to make the best smoothie.
