Mamelodi police wish residents well this festive season
The police are more than ready to do everything in their power such as stop-and-searches and high visibility roadblocks to prevent festive season crimes.
Mamelodi police stations hoped to guarantee the safety of residents during the festive season.
However, they pleaded with the same residents to foster a good working relationship with the police.
Mamelodi West police spokesperson Captain Johannes Maheso said the safety of the communities lies in a healthy relationship between police and that community.
“The community must allow the police to do their work, communities must report criminal activities, communities must look after themselves.
As the police we will do our best to protect our community.
We are very much concerned about the escalation of domestic violence between boy- and girlfriends and request that couples seek professional help when they encounter differences,” said Maheso.
He warned the community about online and telephonic scams where criminals try to hoodwink their victims into parting with large sums of cash.
He urged the community to drive responsibly during festive season and save money for school uniforms and stationery requirements next month.
“We wish the community of Mamelodi a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.”

Mamelodi East police spokesperson Constable Lethabo Mashiloane said the management of his station would like to take this opportunity to wish the community a happy, peaceful and safe festive season.
“We all know that festive season presents its own challenges as far as crime is concerned.
During this time of year, we notice an increase in property-related crimes and contact crimes, which include residential burglary, theft out of motor vehicle, theft of motor vehicle, assaults and robberies,” said Mashiloane.
“The station is busy with initiatives to reduce these offences. Operation Okae Molao and Operation Safer festive season have brought dramatic change in Mamelodi East as far as crime is concerned,” he said.
The police encouraged the community to:
– Avoid being alone in a vehicle when travelling at night.
– Don’t drink and drive.
– Do not carry too much money.
– Always lock your gate, doors and windows.
– Keep your handbag and wallet safe.
– Do not ask strangers to help your operate an ATM.
“The police would like to take this opportunity to thank our stakeholders, the CPF in particular, for their continued support throughout the year.”
Mashiloane also encouraged members of the community to join CPF structures within their sectors to fight crime.
“We look forward to working with you in 2023.”
