High speed crash on R21 kills one, leaves two injured

The driver is in a critical condition, with another with minor injuries.

Paramedics responded to a serious crash on the R21 southbound just after the N1 interchange shortly after 10:00 on Monday, December 5.

Emer-G-Med paramedics that arrived on the scene found a wreckage in which one died and two were injured.

“A light motor vehicle collided with the back of a truck, resulting in the roof of the car being partially sheared off,” said Emer-G-med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen.

A man, approximately 20 years old, found in the front passenger seat had suffered fatal injuries. Medics declared him dead on the scene.

The driver, a woman in her 40s, sustained critical injuries and was stabilised on the scene.

A teenage boy found in the back seat suffered only minor injuries.

The injured passenger and driver were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
