Matrics do their parents proud
Matrics have waited and now they can plan their educational future.
Tshwane’s matric class of 2022 have done themselves, their schools and parents proud.
Overall, the country’s matric class logged a 80.1% pass rate, only the second time since the inception of our democratic dispensation has the 80% mark been surpassed.
The official results for the country as a whole were announced last night (Thursday) by basic education minister Angie Motshekga.
She said this group of matrics has demonstrated that intervention programmes and support rendered during the year was worth it and added that education institutions should prioritise these interventions.
She thanked principals, teachers, support staff, parents and learners for their effort.
Exam quality watchdog Umalusi, in an announcement on Monday, said the 2022 matric results received its stamp of approval.
It did however express concern over cheating allegations at some exam centres.
The Independent Examinations Board (IEB), which administered private school national certificate exams, published its learner results on Wednesday.
Learners this year achieved a matric pass rate of 98.42%, slightly up from the 98.39% the previous year.
Die Hoërskool Menlopark achieved a 100% pass rate, with 964 individual distinctions achieved by 330 learners.
