Ward 54 hosts first community braai of 2023
Residents also started WhatsApp groups where residents can either chat about happenings in the communities or advertise their businesses.
Ward 54 residents recently gathered to ring in the new year as a community with a braai.
“These get-togethers are a good way of bringing neighbours together to socialise,” said local councillor Elma Nel.
“Thank you to all the residents who attended our first braai of the year after the one in September 2022, which was also a huge success. This is how a community forges close bonds and forms new friendships.”
Nel encouraged residents to reach out should they feel that they want to be a part of the festivities, even should they decide to come alone.
“There was a resident or two who contacted me to ask if they could come alone because they felt shy and didn’t know anyone. This is precisely the inspiration behind the concept of the braai. I was so excited to see that no one was sitting alone side and everyone at the tables were chatting like old friends,” Nel continued.
Special thanks were given to the organisers and Wonderboom Lapa for providing the venue. The ward plans to book the lapa for another braai in April.
