Armed robbery at Laudium electronics store

Five armed men entered the shop and took cellphones, 14 car radios, eight smart TVs, electronics and an undisclosed amount of money.

Owners and workers of an electronics store were held hostage when an armed gang targeted the store on Thursday morning at Emerald Street, Laudium.

Laudium police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe said the victims were surprised by five men entering the shop who held them at gunpoint and ordered them to lie down.

“The suspects took cellphones, 14 car radios, eight smart televisions, electronics and an undisclosed amount of money.”

Chokoe said that no shots were fired and no one was reported injured.

He further said that the suspects fled the scene in a white Renault Kangoo panel van with an unknown registration number.

“Police are pleading with anyone with information which might lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact them on 08600 10111 or their local police station,” he said.

A case of armed robbery is being investigated.
