The 22nd annual JabJabu7 soccer tournament, held at Mamelodi central grounds, produced nothing but entertainment and fireworks from the first game until the last one.
This tournament is quickly rising to the forefront of the province’s amateur football competitions.
It featured 87 teams from all over the province battling against one another for the coveted trophy with R102 000 at stake.
Over 3 000 soccer enthusiasts from all over Gauteng flocked to the central ground to the fortress and back up their teams which brought Kubone Street to a standstill.
The tournament was divided into sections and age groups.
Participants and spectators were entertained throughout the day via activations by Mams Mall who were one of the platinum sponsors of the tournament.
“We are excited to be here at Mams Mall and experiencing the tournament.
“We have decided to reach out and engage with the participants because we believe that Mams Mall’s reach is throughout Mamelodi and neighbouring townships,” said the marketing assistant of Mams Mall, Naledi Ndisana.
“We are coming back in 2024 as we believe that the tournament has ticked all the boxes as per the proposal presented to us.”
Besides the football business, the kids and youth market were entertained by Africa Beyond 4th Industrial Revolution (AB4IR), a non-profit organisation aimed at addressing the digital divide by empowering communication through a gaming stall.
“This is the second time we partnered with 7 Sports Development and to date, our expectations have been met,” said the CEO of AB4IR, Kelebogile Molopyane.
Another long-term sponsor of the tournament, Tebogo Makamo, said their companies Route Monitoring and Route Gaming Solutions will continue sponsoring the event.


“7 Sports Development has continued to exceed their expectation due to the precision in which it delivers and its ability to foster social cohesion in Mamelodi.”
The match proceedings in the Masters section final saw Real Sundowns beat Great 10 FC one goal to zero and walked away with R22 500 while the runner-up walked away with R10 000.
Cash 11 FC walked away with R22 500 after defeating Jackbudha FC in the open section category.
The u.13 category winner was Sony FC who beat Sampadoria.
The u. final One West walked out victorious with a price of R3 000, while u.17 final Matsemane was the victor.
The u.19 final saw Styles FC beat VM Galaxy to walk away with R3 000.
The second, third and fourth runner-ups in all categories were all awarded a share from the cash prize.
The tournament organiser, Jabulane Hlalethoa affectionately known as Jab-Jabu7 thanked the community of Mamelodi and sponsors.
“To the partners, visitors, sponsors and community at large, I am sending my deepest appreciation for contributing towards the development of the community of Mamelodi and empowering local SMMEs.
“As reported previously, a total of 90 casual job opportunities were created through this tournament and partnerships,” said Hlalethoa.
