Update: Three dead in Bon Accord collision

The scene was handed over to the SAPS after the fire was extinguished.

Tshwane emergency services department confirmed that three people were declared dead in a multi-vehicle collision on the corner of R101 and Erica Street in Bon Accord.

“Firefighters arrived on scene to a collision between a bus, light motor vehicle and truck. All vehicles were on fire,” said Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso.

Mabaso said the incident was reported at approximately 18:25.

Two persons were burnt beyond recognition in the fire.

“An unconfirmed number of patients were transported before the arrival of the fire brigade.”

Rekord reported earlier that one motorist succumbed to his injuries and two others were transported to hospital.

Pro Med Emergency Medical Services also responded to the fatal motor vehicle accident and upon arrival, paramedics found a truck, a double-decker bus and a small vehicle were on fire.

Mabaso added that the scene was handed over to the SAPS after the fire was extinguished.
