Eastside school opens new sports field

The principal says the day was a highlight for the school.

Eastside primary school officially opened its new sports fields on Saturday, April 22.

Principal Cheryl Bleeker said meeting the parents during the information sessions was a lovely overall experience.

“The morning started with parents and children playing mini-cricket and mums and daughters challenging each other on the netball fields.

“The daughters narrowly won but only by a goal or two,” Bleeker said.

Rorisang Radebe, who has been at the school longest, helped cut the ceremonial ribbon after the senior pastor of Eastside community church, Riaan Niemand, elaborated on the significance of the milestone and blessed the ground as well as the community.

Everybody then assembled for an impressive line dance.

Dads and lads’ soccer followed as one of the entertaining programmes of the day leading to learners, parents, staff, visitors and anyone who still had energy left, closing the festive morning with fun games.

Bleeker said it was wonderful to celebrate their continuing growth with their school community and they are looking forward to having many more family events.
