Help North animal shelter keep its doors open

The shelter always appreciates donations such as blankets, treats for the animals, toys, and hampers that can be used in raffles to raise funds.

Animal Ambulance housing 300 animals is seeking the community’s help to keep its doors open.

The shelter has been around for 21 years and they are now in dire need of funding to keep afloat.

The manager of Animal Ambulance, Katia Van Dyk, said they are donor driven and asks for support from the community.
“I am pleading with the community to help us keep this shelter open by generously donating through the purchase of our ticket options found on the following link https://qkt.io/AAFUNDRAISER.”

“We also have fundraisers on Quicket.co.za where one can search for Animal Ambulance. Every ticket purchased on Quicket gets a free entry into our competition to win prizes,” Van Dyk said.

The amount of food to feed the animals in a week.

She stated that maintaining an animal sanctuary involves other costs than just food.
“Running an animal shelter doesn’t only depend on food and vet bills but we have many other running expenses behind the scenes which we try our best to cover through other means of fundraising.

“But recently everyone has been having a rough time and this has started to affect the 300 animals at Animal Ambulance.”

She said they are running short of money for vet bills.
“Our vet bills fluctuate between R10 000-R20 000 per month depending on which animals need medical attention. We are currently still short of R8 000 for our farm animal vet and R12 000 for our domestic animal vet,” she said.

Van Dyk is pleading with everyone to sacrifice one week of takeaways to help the animals stay safe in their sanctuary.
“Besides funding, we always appreciate food, double bed blankets for the doggies as they sleep on couches, treats for the animals, toys, hampers/items that we can use in our raffles to raise funds.”
