Speedster caught on the N4 freeway released on bail
The 28-year-old driver caught clocking 234 km/h in a 120 km/h prescribed zone is facing charges relating to reckless and negligent driving.
The 28-year-old male driver arrested on Friday May 12 on the N4 for clocking 234 km/h in a 120 km/h zone was released on R1500 bail.
He was driving a grey Mercedes-Benz.

The speedster was nabbed by the Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP) for reckless driving on the N4 freeway near Bronkhorstspruit.
Gauteng traffic police spokesperson Sello Maremane said the speedster will appear in the Bronkhorspruit Magistrates on Monday May 15.
“The driver was detained at Bronkhorspruit police station before his release and he is facing charges relating to reckless and negligent driving with an alternative charge of driving in excess of the prescribed speed limit of 120 km per hour,” he said.
Maremane said they condemn this kind of irresponsible behavior.
“This reckless behavior undermines our road safety efforts.
“Over-speeding is one of the contributory factors to road crashes which often lead to unnecessary loss of lives,” he said.
“We will intensify high-speed operations and clamp down on speedsters on Gauteng major routes and freeways,” he added.
Maremane urged all law enforcement officers to leave no stone unturned in dealing decisively with those who continue to disregard the rules of the road, thus putting the lives of other road users at risk.
