Lack of water into Wallmansthal reservoir causes supply interruptions

“The forced temporary suspension of operations at the Roodeplaat water treatment plant had a detrimental effect on the augmentation supply into the system.”

Residents are urged to use water sparingly following a recent water supply interruption into the Wallmansthal reservoir.

According to Magalies Water spokesperson David Magae, the interruption is due to not water going into the reservoir.

“Following a pipe burst at the Tshwane owned Roodeplaat water treatment plant, operations had to be suspended.

This caused a critically low bulk water supply.

Magalies Water would like to alert clients receiving water from Wallmansthal about the anticipated delays in water supply,” Magae said.

He asserted that due to Roodeplaat water treatment plant’s suspension of operations, the output of bulk water is critically low.

“The forced temporary suspension of operations at the Roodeplaat water treatment plant had a detrimental effect on the augmentation supply into Wallmansthal.

“Thus, there’s little to no water left in the system.”

Magae said it was currently unknown when supply will be restored.

“According to the information that is now available, the plant will be operational tomorrow.

“There will be water supply delays during this period until the scheme has fully recovered and regular bulk water delivery via augmentation has returned to normal levels,” he said.

In order for residents to avoid lengthy delays in the water supply, Magae pleaded with consumers to conserve water during this time.
