An 11-year-old girl and her mother were held at gunpoint when two robbers invaded their home in Laudium on Wednesday.
“The two armed suspects gained entry into the house on Violet Street in the evening around 19:30,” said police spokesperson Warrant-officer Johan van Dyk.
“The woman was cooking in the kitchen while her daughter was sitting in the lounge. The suspects held the child at gunpoint.
They asked her whether there was anyone else in the house and she told them that her mother was in the kitchen.
They walked with her to the kitchen where they found the mother. The robbers ordered her to keep quiet and they proceeded to lock the pair in the bathroom.”
The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money.
They then robbed a visitor they met on their way out, making off with three cell phones and other valuables.
The suspects used a white Kia with a number plate registration numbers believed to be fake.
Residents were urged to always keep their gates and doors closed to stay safe from the robbers and report any suspicious activities to the TMPD on 012 358 7095/6 or the SAPS.
No arrest has been made.
