A family is looking for anyone with more information about a hit-and-run incident on Wierda Road on Tuesday morning, June 13, at around 07:30.

Mashaba’s arm was badly broken and he sustained a minor head injury.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Wierda Road and Willem Botha Drive in the direction of Old Johannesburg Road.

According to his wife, Maria Ntsinya, the truck that hit him was carrying workers from the Mooiplaas informal settlement.

He told her that after he was hit, no one stopped to help him and his bicycle was damaged in the incident.

Mashaba walked from the scene to the house of one of his employers, where Ntsinya also works, for help.

Emergency services were then called and he was taken to Kalafong Hospital.

MASHABA NEEDS AN OPERATION

Ntsinya said that her husband was in a lot of pain following the hit-and-run and was undergoing an operation on his arm on Wednesday.

A police case has not yet been opened, but Ntsinya said that as soon as her husband is released from the hospital they would be opening a case.

Pierre De La Porte, Mashaba’s employer, said that they were very shocked that nobody stopped to help him after the incident.

“I’m sure that there were people that saw what happened. The workers on the back of the truck should have seen what happened.

“He had to push his broken bike to my house, I can’t believe no one stopped to help.

“He could have fallen under the vehicle or been ridden over by another car, he could have been killed.”
