Sadda creating sporting possibilities for disabled

Sadda will be hosting a golf day fundraiser for the big day at the CMR Golf course in Roodepoort on June 30.

The South African disability darts association (Sadda) is creating opportunities for people living with disabilities north of Pretoria in the darts sport.

The Sadda has recently been selected to represent South Africa in Niedernhausen, Germany from October 10-16, by the SA national corporates championships.

“Eight players have been chosen – four wheeled and four standing – together with their two managers to go to Germany,” said Sadda president Steven Maphike.

“The event will comprise of several countries, throughout the world with South Africa being one of the participating countries.”

Maphike said the Sadda is an affiliate member of the World ParaDarts (WPD) and the Winmau World disability darts organisation (WWDDO).

“So, through these affiliations, the Sadda is allowed to compete internationally.”

SADDA REPRESENTED SOUTH AFRICA IN 2019

In 2019, the Sadda competed in the inaugural WPD World Cup in Belgium to represent South Africa.

Maphike said South Africa is the first African country to compete in disabled darts internationally.

He said the organisation has not received any funding as yet and players have to pay for their way to ensure a South African team is able to attend.

“The players selected will depend on sponsorships and donations to cover their cost.”

Such events are only hosted in Europe, said Maphike.

“On behalf of the Sadda, we humbly appeal to you for assistance in the form of sponsorship.

“This will be utilised towards flights, accommodation, visa application, uniform, travel insurance and food for the players.

“The Sadda will host a golf day fundraiser for the big day at the CMR Golf course in Roodepoort on June 30,” said Maphike.

“Companies and individuals are humbly requested to support the fundraiser by entering 4-ball teams or sponsor a hole.”

Finally, Maphike said the Sadda needs a prize sponsor for the golf day.

It highly appreciates any donations towards this including products.
