Metro slams false administration clerk vacancy ad
"Scammers want to con vulnerable community members desperate for jobs."
An advertisement for an administration clerk post at the municipality is bogus, said the Tshwane metro.
“The metro only advertises vacant posts in newspapers and on its website’s job forum page,” said metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
According to the “advertisement”, applicants are invited to interview for the job on Wednesday, June 28, at 10:30.
Applicants are also promised a remuneration of R22 750 – R35 000 per month for the said “position”.
“Individuals who are shortlisted for interviews are phoned directly and will receive a formal letter inviting them to an interview,” said Mashigo.
The metro urged the public to ignore the message since it is a scam.
“We are appalled at the scammers who prey on the emotions of unsuspecting jobseekers by manufacturing information about the existence of job vacancies and inviting them to the interviews.
“We suspect that scammers want to con vulnerable community members desperate for jobs,” Mashigo added.
He warned anyone peddling such false information that they will be arrested, charged and prosecuted.
Members of the public should contact the metro police on 083 657 2998 whenever they come across any bogus job advertisements.
