No harsh temperatures expected this weekend for Pretoria – SA Weather Services
There are no weather alerts for the city, as Pretoria appears to be in for a mild weekend.
Pretoria residents who started Friday morning with a minimum temperature of 6°C can look forward to a not-so-cold weekend with mild temperatures.
This was according to the SA Weather Service (SAWS), which predicted no rain or clouds for Pretoria this weekend.
Forecaster Kgolofelo Mahlangu said temperatures could reach a high of 18°C on Friday.
“There are currently no signs of any weather alerts, but the weekend will just be cold,” said Mahlangu.
On Saturday, temperatures were expected to go from a very low 6°C to 20°C also with no chance of rain.
“No rain is expected on Sunday, also with a minimum of 6°C and maximum of 20°C,” she added.
Residents are urged to take these precautions to prevent cold exposure and minimise the risk of cold stress.
These include the following tips:
– Limit your time outdoors, where possible.
– Dress warmly (thermal clothing, jerseys and closed shoes) and cover up exposed skin to reduce the risk of hypothermia.
– Close windows and even use thicker curtains in the winter evenings to keep in the heat.
– Identify and close gaps in doorways and window frames that could be letting in the cold.
– Insulate homes and buildings to reduce the need for heating and retain any heat generated between load-shedding.
– Intensify your physical activity.
– Invest in some extra thicker blankets.
– Stay informed about the latest load-shedding schedules to ensure you can cook warm meals while the power is on.
– Stay informed and monitor the local media about the latest weather updates and warnings.
