LGBTQI+ community raise awareness

“We are here to showcase that you can love whoever you want to love and it does not matter who you are and what colour you are.”

The LGBTQIA+ organization took to the streets as one community to spread the message of love.

They took part in a Pride Community march initiative 3.4km walk spreading the message of love on Friday.

Organizer Deon Smith said the walk was about love, hope and standing together.

He said the LGBTQIA+ community also had their spotlight within their communities.

“We are here to showcase that you can love whoever you want to love and it does not matter who you are and what colour you are.

“We are all human beings, and we are trying to motivate people to be who they want to be,” said Smith.

He said the reason for different types of flags and balloons in colours was to represent the LGBTQ+ flag.

“There is a multi-colored, multi-cultural and multi-racial broad aspect within the community. We are here to make a difference in South Africa even if it’s one day in a year,” said Smith.
