Human settlements MMC welcomes reappointment of Tshwane housing board

The MMC says that the metro is also recruiting two additional non-executive directors to bring the full complement of the board to seven members.

Human settlements MMC Ofentse Madzebatela announced the reappointment of the Tshwane housing board this week.

The board’s members will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of a service-delivery agreement that was signed on June 30.

The agreement was between the metro (represented by Madzebatela as shareholder representative), city manager Johan Mettler, interim chairperson Portia Tau Sekati and acting CEO Jacob Thamanga.

The newly signed service delivery agreement will be valid for five years.

It will allow the Tshwane housing company to venture into new potential growth areas, such as student accommodation.

“This will be as an accountability tool to monitor the board’s performance,” he said.

The newly appointed board members are Themba Dlamini (board chairperson), Zokhanyo Pikashe, Potia Tau Sekati, Shaka Sebola and Batandwa Damoyi.

The above board members have been reappointed from the previous term.

Madzebatela said the metro would also recruit two additional non-executive directors to bring the board’s full complement to seven members.

According to a statement, the envisaged additional members must have the requisite knowledge and professional experience in the legal, project and construction management, governance and public administration fields.

Madzebatela urged South Africans with the required skills and expertise to apply for the abovementioned board seats.

“I wish to thank the reappointed board for the service to the Tshwane housing department over the past year and wish them all the best in the execution of their duties,” he said.

“I will continue to provide them with the support needed at all times.”

He said that the members will be entrusted with the fiduciary responsibility to guide the company.
