Faith and Hope Foundation wants to uplift Ga-Rankuwa community

This non-profit organisation, which was founded in June 2013 by Faith Sibeko, wants to make a difference in the community.

The Faith and Hope Foundation recently received a generous donation of clothes, shoes, and blankets from Leap and Rotary Club.

This non-profit organisation, which was founded in June 2013 by Faith Sibeko, wants to make a difference in the community.

“I have realised that we are living in a disadvantaged community where many families depend on government social grants,” said Sibeko.

“Most children used to go to school without shoes. Girls will not go to school when they are on their periods. So we started with our sanitary towels and toiletries campaign. To date, we adopted some of the schools in our community to donate to both boys and girls.”

She said the foundation wants to uplift the lives of the people in the community by creating jobs for the unemployed and keeping the children off the streets.

The foundation has the following programmes:

– Back-to-school drive in January to give full school uniforms and stationery to the needy children of the community.

– After-school care programme where it assists learners with homework as well as research and printing for their projects.

– Do training on the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act.

– Help Grade 12 learners apply for universities and get bursaries.

– Have grassroots sports development programmes, where one of its ladies’ teams is affiliated with Safa Tshwane Woman’s Regional League and is number 1 in the league. The other team is affiliated with their LFA.

– They also started with their farming projects, where the community came together to work on their project. They have skills development projects as well for the youth and community games where they promote mass participation in sports and promote a healthy lifestyle.
