"In a fortnight I will dispatch a team from the district to assess the progress made in addressing the issues surrounding these troublesome taverns in this area."

Tshwane police have arrested 252 suspects in just three days for various crimes.
The police’s relentless clampdown on criminal activity took place in Atteridgeville on Saturday.
Acting district spokesperson, Captain Daniel Mavimbela, said as per the tradition of Operation O kae Molao, the operation was led by a dedicated team of detectives who raided wanted suspects.
“Over the course of Friday to Saturday, the dedicated team of detectives handled 213 case dockets and managed to apprehend 192 wanted suspects.
“Among the captured suspects, 43 were involved in gender-based violence, 21 in assault, and 28 in theft,” Mavimbela said.
Additionally, he said other suspects were facing charges ranging from malicious damage to property, extortion, robbery, and even rape.
The district’s acting spokesperson said these operations were serving as a reminder to criminals that police won’t leave acts of criminality unpunished.
“Thanks to the intelligence-driven nature of these activities, two illegal firearms and ammunition were seized, leading to the arrest of two additional suspects for illegal possession thereof.
“Moreover, during the operation, a roadblock set up on WF Nkomo Road resulted in the apprehension of 24 motorists driving under the influence of intoxicating substances.”
Mavimbela added that all drivers who were found infringing on the traffic laws were handed Aarto fines amounting to nearly R48,000 while other traffic violators received fines totalling R6,000.
According to the police operation O Kae Molao concluded in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The district commissioner has asked members of the police in Atteridgeville to adopt a more decisive approach when dealing with problematic taverns across the township.
“In a fortnight, I will dispatch a team from the district to assess the progress made in addressing the issues surrounding these troublesome taverns in this area,” Nengovhela said.
This latest police blitz signifies the effectiveness of O Kae Molao as a powerful tool wielded by the police service in Tshwane, effectively curbing criminal activities and ensuring compliance with the law.
