Thousands of aviation enthusiasts from all walks of life gathered under one roof for the third Aero SA aviation trade event.
The aviation trade show took place from 6 to 8 July at the Wonderboom National Airport.

AERO South Africa is Africa’s largest general aviation trade show which covers the full spectrum of services and products of the aviation industry.

With 60 exhibitors and an impressive aircraft display, the event was expected to create opportunities in the aerospace industries.

It also has a secondary impact on the local business sectors, such as in the hospitality and tourism sector.
The expo had the potential to facilitate access for young people and emerging businesses to the aviation sector.
Attendees got an opportunity to meet leading industry experts, enthusiasts, aviation companies, flight training schools, pilots, business jet owners and private aircraft owners.

The three-day event offered various opportunities to local SMMEs.
“The show strengthened business relationships between local and international general aviation businesses,” said Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink.
“I want to thank Messe Frankfurt South Africa, for the trust they have in our city to successfully host this aviation event once again,” Brink said.
He said Tshwane was open for business and economic development opportunities to uplift the city and offer opportunities to residents.
Jannie de Klerk, executive director of flight operations for the national airways corporations (NAC), said the show has been an interesting event.
“It is industry related as it brought aviation companies together joining forces to grow the industry and create future opportunities.”
De Klerk said he was looking forward to the fourth edition as it was a great event for showcasing, getting contacts as well as potential clients.

Besides the classy aircrafts display, the networking sessions and business opportunities, this show offered aspiring pilots an opportunity for learning.
“Attending this event was very educational. I gained a lot of insight and it was wonderful to meet experienced pilots and see a variety of aircraft,” said Naledi Komeke, an aviation student.
Anton Gruber said he travelled all the way from Joburg to attend this show as it was one of the biggest aviation shows with a variety of aircraft on display.
