No water, electricity in parts of Tshwane
The metro says it’s not yet sure when the electricity and water would be restored.
Residents that have been without electricity for more than 48 hours in the east of Pretoria have been dealt another blow.
The Tshwane metro has reported cable theft at the Njala substation that will likely prolong the residents’ woes.
He said the Njala substation supplied:
– Waltloo 1
– Mamelodi 1, 2, 3
– Wapadrand
– Mooikloof
– Koedoespoort
– Heartherley

Mashigo said technicians were on-site to resolve the problem.
He said the Wapadrand substation tripped on Sunday and while technicians were dealing with this, cable thieves hit Njala.
“The damage caused is huge and the rewiring of the band equipment will take longer to repair. The city pleads for residents’ patience during this period,” Mashigo said.
At this stage, it was unclear when the problem would be resolved.

Mashigo said residents will be kept abreast of developments as and when there was new information.
He also acknowledged water interruptions in Marabastad, Tshwane metro police headquarters and surroundings blocks in the Pretoria CBD.
He said the water outage was a result of a contractor in Marabastad causing a pipe burst.
“A team of artisans is looking into the problem with the view of effecting repairs and restoring this essential service. The estimated time of restoration is not yet known.
“Meanwhile, a team of technicians is attending to another water leak affecting Sunnyside and nearby areas,” Mashigo added.
Residents were also left in the dark as to when this interruption would be resolved.
He urged residents to use the following channels to report any service interruptions:
– To report water leaks: waterleaks@tshwane.gov.za
– To report sewer problems: sewerblockage@tshwane.gov.za
– To report waste management problems: wastemanagementdomestic@tshwane.gov.za
