Two stolen vehicles recovered

Suspects were caught with a signal jamming device after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a Pretoria East shopping centre.

Two stolen vehicles were recovered when a local security company followed up on a report of a suspicious-looking vehicle in Pretoria East on Saturday, July 15.

Two suspects were caught with the stolen vehicles, as well as a signal jamming device.

Lakes Security Forum chairperson Jean Jonker said that its members reported a suspicious-looking vehicle possibly linked to car thefts.
Local security Echo 1 Tactical Solutions responded to the report and followed the suspects.

“The suspects entered a few local shopping centers and Echo1 Tactical Solutions observed.” Jonker told Rekord.

Jonker said they watched as the suspects eventually found a target and split up to clone the frequency of a Prado.

Both suspects left the centre, one in the stolen Prado and the other in the getaway vehicle.

Jonker said “ECHO1 TS owners Etienne Schoeman and Rico Rose Innes took down the getaway suspect in Silver Lakes Road and found him in possession of illegal jamming equipment.”

The second suspect fled in the stolen Prado.

Boschkop SAPS were called to the scene and arrived quickly to arrest the first suspect.

Security personnel then started looking for the stolen Prado.

“Through tracking a mobile device in the vehicle and information received from a tracking company, Schoeman traced the vehicle.” said Jonker.

The Prado was successfully traced and recovered.

The reaction officials discovered that the getaway vehicle used by the suspects was also reported as stolen.

The vehicle was recently reported stolen in Lyttleton.

“This is a great example of crime fighting co-operation Lakes Security Forum strives for and thus our motto #StrongerTogether.

“We applauded Etienne and his crime fighting team from Echo1 Tactical Solutions,” concluded Jonker.

Rekord reached out to the SAPS for comment, but did not recieve a response by the time of publishing.
