Pretoria residents take on trails at local reserve

Owner Glizelle Langerman says that a run with Revolutionary Trails is the best way to spend a weekend.

The cold weather wasn’t enough to keep these revolutionary runners in bed this past Sunday morning, as Revolution Trails hosted its weekly Sunday run at the Klapperkop nature reserve.

Since 2021, Revolution Trails has been a local favourite for beginners, running enthusiasts and families just looking for a day out.

The Klapperkop trail offered runners/walkers the chance to take on the 2km, 5km, 10km or 15km route.

Owner Glizelle Langerman says that a run with Revolutionary Trails is the best way to spend a weekend.

“We have it every week for people just to get outside, come train, get active and fit; maybe practise for bigger upcoming race. It’s also good because you get exposure to different venues and terrains,” Langerman says.

From 06:30 participants could register and runners took their selected trails at 07:00. Upon completion, participants received their medals and could have refreshments and socialise with other runners.

“I love the people. We have regulars that come every week. It’s nice to get to meet new people and get to know one another, plus it’s nice to see families just out enjoying the nature and experience together,” Glizelle continues.

Revolutionary Trails is looking forward to hosting its annual Affi Lande stage race, the only pet-friendly stage race in the country.

The two-day stage race is set to take place in the Free State in Fouriesberg this September. Pet-friendly runs are also done every Saturday and night runs every Wednesday.
