R120k raised for charities with wine tasting

The annual event has raised an average of R100 000 for charity per event over the past 10 years.

Wine fanatics and novices enjoyed an evening of live entertainment and a selection of South African wines in support of charity.

The event brought together wine enthusiasts and philanthropists and was organised to support three deserving charities: Echo Youth Development, Insimbi Legacy Projects, and New BeginningZ.

This year’s event was a resounding success, according to organisers, with industry expert SEESA donating a generous sum of R120 000 to the beneficiaries.

The three charities are set to utilise these funds to further their impactful work within the community.

SEESA national manager Latél Vollgraaff expressed her gratitude. “We are overwhelmed by the tremendous support received from our patrons, sponsors and partners over the years.”

The first such wine-tasting event was held 10 years ago on August 1, 2013.

Since then the initiative has grown year on year raising funds for the betterment of society.

The event has been held annually, apart from three years following the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Witnessing the positive change we can create when we come together for a common cause, is heartening,” said Vollgraaff.

This amount, however, multiplied significantly with each passing year.

On average, an impressive R100 000 was donated to various charitable organisations during each event, said SEESA in a statement about the event.

The boutique wine tasting showcased a selection of exceptional wine houses, each offering its finest vintages.

Among the esteemed wineries that graced the event were Fuselage, Karibib, Roodekrantz, Arbeidsgenot and L’avenir.
